Messy

I kind of like snapping photographs of works in progress. Iced sugar cookies, for example. And cakes under construction. And baking supplies strewn all over the kitchen counter. And cake batter in a mixing bowl. Especially cake batter in a mixing bowl.

“Why do you take pictures of cake batter?” My oldest daughter asked this very good question. This question was a question I answered with an answer. Not with a question. “Because cake batter is beautiful,” I answered.

And it is. A cake on its journey is every bit as beautiful as the finished product. Once upon a time I did not think so. But I am learning. Now I am beginning to think the process is pretty, too. Even if the process is a little messy.

Laura with 5 girls in your home, this thought may be much wiser than you know! If only our beautiful daughters would realize as they are growing up, that sometimes the journey is messy…..(and looks messy at times!!) but it is SOO beautiful to watch their talents, interests and lives unfold and THEY are SO valued and beautiful! I LOVE your book and what you are doing,  because giving and thinking of others makes us even more beautiful! As my mom always used to say “Pretty is as pretty does!” You are truly an inspiration!
